Describes a two year collaborative project between an urban middle school library and the University of California at Berkeley’s Bay Area Writing Project in the application of Web log technology for teaching and learning. Briefly describes the history and uses of Web logs as content management systems. Explains the school library’s use of Web logs to publish a digital daily agenda of library-based learning projects; to link to the schoolís and the local public library’s OPACs; to direct teacher and student online research in free and fee-based databases; to collect teacher and student online comments and suggestions about the library and its collections; and to direct and support student resource gathering, reading, note taking, drafting, and publication of research. Benefits and challenges of reliance on Web-based tools are discussed. Points out the advantages of university and school partnership. Offers suggestions and resources for setting up similar projects.
